From Newsletter to Conference

I am convinced that family medicine CME can be much better than what we’re used to. This conviction already shapes the Golden Nuggets newsletter – evidence-based medicine, but understandable, practical, and without the fluff. Now, I’m combining this approach with proven formats and modern learning psychology. The result is Golden Nuggets LIVE.

The Idea Behind It

Traditional CME events are often boring, hospital-oriented, and quickly forgotten. Golden Nuggets LIVE pursues different goals – maximum relevance, modern didactics, and evidence-based retention:

  • Format: 28 insights (“nuggets”) in one afternoon.
  • Method: Case > Quiz > Evidence > Nugget
  • Focus: Topics come from you. Experienced GPs present.
  • Independent: No pharma or industry sponsoring.

Why It Works

The format combines the established concept of Clinical Pearls with evidence-based didactics (e.g., Cognitive Load Theory). Unnecessary noise is removed.

Furthermore, we use Spaced Repetition. RCTs show that physicians achieve about three to four times better long-term retention with this method. That’s why you’ll receive short review quizzes after the conference.

Full Disclosure

This conference is intense. If you only want to passively collect CME credits, you probably won’t be happy. But if you want to learn a lot quickly, this is the place for you.

Speakers choose the topics guided by the question: “What do I know that every GP should know?” Survey requests from the community will be covered — e.g., Red Flags, Choosing-Wisely, myth checks, communication.

Solely by ticket revenue. There is no pharma funding or industry sponsorship.
